Ashley Union Depot Ashley Union Depot Ashley Union Depot Ashley section gang Ashley Depot Ashley, in Gratiot County, was settled around 1883 and became a village in 1887. The town was named after the President of the Toledo, Ann Arbor and Northern railroad. [MPN]

Time Line

1900. This is a telegraph station on the Ann Arbor railroad. [OG-1900]

1918. The AARR had a day station agent here as well as operators on trick 1 and 2. [TRT]

1921. February 23. A derailment of a Grand Trunk Western train due to a bad engine truck (wheelset) kills two and injured another.  ICC Report [PDF]
