Time Line
1898. The following stations were open during the day: Palms, Minden City and Sand Beach. There were two passenger trains daily, except Sunday. Ruth and Helena were flag stops. There was also one local third class (freight) train. [ETT]
1889. This line was changed to standard gauge.
1893. Extra trains are being run on the Sand Beach division of the F&PM in order to handle the large increase in freight traffic. [DFP-1893-1001]
1893. October 11. A special passenger train on the Sand Beach division of the F&PM leaving Sand Beach at 5:35 Tuesday evening on account of the races, was derailed four miles north of Ruth Station, the engine and baggage car leaving the track. The locomotive rolled on its side in the ditch and was badly wrecked, while the baggage car was slightly damaged. The engineer and fireman jumped for their lives escaping significant injury. The accident was caused by cattle lying on the track, two of which were killed. [DFP-1893-1013]
1894. Large quantities of railroad ties are being distributed along the Sand Breach division of the F&PM and the prospects are that the gauge will be widened during the summer. [DFP-1894-0418]
1902. The Harbor Beach branch has been extended 8 miles to Port Hope, laid with 35 and 60 lbs. rail. [MCR-1903]
