Timetable: NYC - Monroe Branch - Monroe to Lenawee Junction

This was the original route west from Lake Erie (Monroe) by the Southern line, owned by the State of Michigan. It was sold to the Michigan Southern & Northern Indiana railroad, which also purchased the Erie & Kalamazoo, making this more of a branch line while the E&K became the main route from Toledo to west Michigan (called the "Old Road"). Station hours and 44' car capacity as of 1913.

Notes: Their was an older rail line from the shore of Lake Erie in Monroe to village of Monroe on the north side of the river. This line was not part of that route.

In 1913, passenger trains limited to 50 mph and freight trains limited to 25 mph on the branch.

Federman: The crossing of the Ann Arbor railroad was apparently stop and proceed, and then an automatic interlocking was installed here. It was in place by 1913. First come, first served.

Deerfield: This was an early crossing of the Chicago & Canada Southern main line from Grosse Isle to Fayette, Indiana. The line was pulled up from Trenton to Grosvenor (in Lenawee County) fairly soon after coming under Vanderbilt family control to eliminate a competing route to Chicago.

Lenawee Junction. This line crossed the Jackson branch by the depot here, at grade, before junctioning with the Old Road a few feet west.
