This was a "union station" because it was also used by the Pere Marquette railroad.

Time Line

1866. N. Matheson who was station agent for the Amboy, Lansing & Traverse Bay railroad has resigned to accept a similar position for the JL&S railroad. [LSJ-1866-0321] Ed. Note: The AL&TB reached Lansing from Owosso in 1863, three years before the JL&S.

1866. The JL&S has contracted with Capt. J.R. Price for the construction of a passenger depot in Lansing. The building will be 22 by 28 feet in size, and will be finished with ample roof projections. It will be located on the company's grounds, west of the railroad track, fronting on Michigan avenue. [DFP-1866-1010]

1902. A new passenger station is built here by the MC, at a cost of $29,000. [MCR-1902]

1917. The MC had an operator-lerk here around-the-clock.  [TRT]
