Station: Copper City, MI

Copper City was a station on the Keweenaw Central Railroad north of Calumet in Houghton County. It was founded in 1910. It became a village in 1917. [MPN]

Time Line

1909. The KCRR builds a new station at Copper CIty. [MCR1909]

1913. Mine strikers apparently attempted to derail a KCRR train at Copper City by dynamiting the track in front of a train. The train was stopped about 100 feet from the danger point after the engineer noticed obstructions on the track. The train was barely stopped when the explosion occurred. [DD-1913-1025]
