Station: North Ironwood, MI

North Ironwood was a station on the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic railroad main line at milepost 209.2, three miles east of the Wisconsin border. This was six miles north of downtown Ironwood in Section 34, T48N-R47W.. This is as close as the DSS&A came to the City of Ironwood. The DSS&A had a yard here, at MP 299.2 (from St. Ignace).

Time Line

1921. December. The new North Ironwood station of the DSS&A was being installed. [IWT-1941-1203]

1964. In a public notice, the Soo Line intends to retire and remove its depot building at North Ironwood in August. [IDG-1964-0627]

1964. November. For Sale To the Highest Bidder: Soo Line 16 x 40' depot structure at North Ironwood. Submit bids to Division Engineer, Stevens Point, WI. [IDG-1964-1111]
