Location: Escanaba, MI - C&NW Empty Yard
The C&NW's Empty Yard was a 4 track yard used for storing empty ore cars awaiting return to the mines from docks #5 and #6. The yard was located on a wye track just west of the ore docks and the Ishpeming main line (running underneath).

Time Line
1891. The Ore subdivision, between Antoine and Escanaba was built by the Schlesinger syndicate, along with dock #5. This empty yard was also built approximately at that time. Within a year of construction, the operation was taken over by the C&NW.
