Location: Groos, MI
Groos was at milepost 2.0 on the Escanaba & Lake Superior railroad (2 miles northwest of Wells). This was in the vicinity of the present paper plant. The E&LS had scales here as well as a 78 car passing track.
The Soo Line also had a station here.

Time Line
1949. Harold Older of Marquette was arrested Saturday night at Groos. He was wanted on a forgery charge and was riding on a Soo Line freight train that had halted to pick up a couple of cars at Groos. A railroad employee, who was a former member of the Gladstone police force, spotted Older getting aboard the freight train at Gladstone. He notified officers at the Gladstone state police post and the arrest was made. He was lodged in the Delta county jail. [EDP-1949-0509]
