Meredith, MI

Meredith was at the end of a PM forest branch line which went northeast from Harrison in Clare County. It was settled in 1884 and had a one-time population of 1,800 during the peak of lumber operations. The post office closed in 1895. Today, only a cemetery exists.

Time Line

1887. December. Herman Hansen was run over and killed on the A.W. Wright lumber company's logging railroad near Meredith. He was employed as a car repairer on the road and fell from the train. [PHTH-1887-1212]
