Interlocking: Homer Tower, Homer, MI

Homer Tower was a manned interlocking tower at the 3-way crossing of the Air Line Division of the Michigan Central, the Lansing Division of the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern, and the main line of the Detroit, Toledo & Milwaukee railroads. The tower was located at the southeast edge of the Village of Homer and it was a manual/"strong arm" tower. It was a Saxby-Farmer lever machine installed by the Union Switch & Signal Co.

Time Line

1917, The MC had an towerman-operator here around-the-clock. [TRT]. The railroad commission approves the change from operated distant signals to fixed signals on both the MC and NYC lines. [MCRF-1917]
