Station: Athens, MI

Athens Depot MC Athens Depot Athens, in southwest Calhoun County, was settled in 1831 and became a town in 1854. It was incorporated as a village in 1895. [MPN] The town was located on the Michigan Central's branch line from Battle Creek to Goshen, Indiana.

Time Line

1900. All but three buildings in the east side of Main Street were burned Sunday. The fire started in the Athens hotel. [SJH-19000-0505]

1917. The MC had an operator-agent here on the day shift. [TRT]
