Kawkawlin, MI - Kawkawlin River Drawbridge (MC)

Location: Kawkawlin River Drawbridge, Kawkawlin, MI - (MC)

This draw bridge is referenced in a 1870's Michigan Central timetable, used on their newly established Mackinaw Branch.  Visiting this site today, it is hard to imagine a drawbridge here, but one must keep in mind that logging was active and the river was likely used to bring log or boat traffic to Saginaw Bay during this era.

Notes

This bridge was built in 1880 and had a draw span of 51 feet. [MCR-1890]
