Location: Keweenaw Bay, MI - Mass Mine Stamp Mill

The stamping mill for the Mass Mine was located at Keweenaw Bay. Raw iron ore was brought in via the Keweenaw Branch of the Mineral Range. After processing, the ore was loaded onto lake vessels for transport to steel mills.

1916. January. The Mass stamp mill at Keweenaw Bay closed down Wednesday on account of a shortage of rock. The Mineral Range railroad, which hauls the rock from the mine to the mill on the Keweenaw Bay branch, has been handicapped lately by the heavy snow storms, but they will resume the past good service as soon as possible.
