The Besser Manufacturing Company was formed in 1902 in Alpena and manufactured cement block manufacturing machines and other products for the concrete industry. The company continues to exist today.
The company's headquarters is built on the property of the former Alpena Automobile Company. It had rail service from the D&M railway until the 1960's. [APN]
