Station: Rumely, MI

Rumley was settled in 1873 in Alger County and received a station on the Munising railway in 1890. It was about 3 miles east of Eben.

Time Line

1949. A wide-awake railroad crew aided in the capture of a prison trusty who walked away from Marquette branch prison last Thursday. Crewmen reported seeing Lionel Sims, 36, boarding a train at Mangum. Working on the tip, State Police and prison officers hurried to Rumely to await arrival of the train. Sims was captured in an iron ore "gondola" as soon as the train pulled into the Rumley station. The inmate had been sentenced on a forgery charge and now faces additional charges. [EDP-1949-0720]
