Deerton was a station on the Detroit, Mackinaw & Marquette Railroad (later Duluth, South Shore and Atlantic Ry.), opened in 1882. [MPN]. This station was in Alger County and on the line from St. Ignace to Marquette. It was about 22 miles east of Marquette.
