Station: East Gary, IN

East Gary is located five miles east of downtown Gary in Lake County, and was on the Michigan Central's main line to Chicago nine miles west of Porter.

This was formally known as Lake Station.

The Michigan Central "Cutoff" branch to Joliet left the main line here.

1917. The MC had an operator-agent here around-the-clock. [TRT]

1920. On the Michigan Central, this is a passenger ticket and freight station. Also issues Interline tickets. Joint with the American Railway Express Company. Call sign is "GR". [MCOAS]
