Notes

The Pence Mine is reported to have been located in Iron County Wisconsom.

Time Line

October, 1895. The Wisconsin Central and C&NW have both built spur tracks into the Pence mine at the village of the same name and are both after a small stockpile. It seems that the stockpile was purchased by Mr. Abeel of the Montreal Mining company who authorized the WC company to load and remove the same, but the C&NW peiole seeming to have a prior claim on the ore and their track between between the WC and the stockpile they refuse to allow that company to carry the ore across the track.
