This small yard was located on the west side of the NYC Detroit line, between Wagon Works and Tower K.  The MC Belt Line to old North Yard branched off the Detroit line here.

Eight Are Dead

Woman and Two Sons Returning from Adrian Among Those Killed at West Toledo

Toledo, O. Feb. 17, 1908. Eight persons were killed and a dozen injured when a Big Four passenger train struck a Toledo & Western electric car at the Michigan Central crossing in West Toledo. The dead:

James Myers, motorman, Toledo; Mrs. William Fisher, West Toledo; Roy Fisher, West Toledo; Clarence Beech, Sylvania; Unknown woman and two children; Hiram Parker, Sylvania.

According to an eye witness of the wreck, the conductor stopped at the crossing to flag the car across. Seeing the train coming, he signaled to the motorman to stop, but this signal was either misunderstood, not seen or disregarded for the car came ahead with sickening results.

All the ambulances in the city were hastily summoned and the injured taken to hospitals.

The flyer was late and, according to eye witnesses, was running toward Detroit at nearly a mile a minute.

The big interurban car was caught squarely in the middle, lifted high in the air and thrown 160 feet.

The unknown woman and two children were Mrs. John Neipp, aged thirty-three and her two sons, Lincoln and Theodore, of Toledo. They boarded the car at Tecumseh street in Adrian.
