Station: Haskell's, IN

Haskell's was a station on the GTW South Bend subdivision, located at milepost 63.9 in La Porte County. The Monon Railroad crossed the GTW here at a mechanical interlocking. [GTWET-1971-0501]

Time Line

1889. October 24. A steam pipe burst on a C&GT engine at Haskell's station yesterday instantly killing Fireman John Hadden who was thrown 50 feet, and seriously scalding Engineer Thomas Callahan. Both were single men. [SCH-1889-1024]

1915. The GTW had a 30 car passing track here. [GTOS-1915-1102]

1917. The GTW had an agent as well as an operator here during the day. Telegraph call on the GT was "AK". Both positions were jointly funded by the Monon railroad. [TRT]
