Station: Oakwood, MI (Wayne County)

Oakwood was originally known as Navarre in the late 1880's and was located approximately in the vicinity north of the Marathon refinery and west of the Rouge River in southwest Detroit. The town became a village in 1910 and was renamed Oakwood in 1918. The village was annexed to Detroit in 1922. [MPN]

1913. January 2. A derailment on the Wabash railway 3 miles west of Delray kills three. The cause of the derailment was a broken rail.
