Station: Fordson, MI

Fordson was the successor name for the City of Springwells. The name was changed to Fordson in 1925 in honor of the Ford family. Fordson was absorbed by the City of Dearborn in 1928. [MPN] The city of Fordson only existed for three years under this name. Fordson High School continues to exist in east Dearborn.

Time Line

1926. October. An automobile driven by Dr. Alan Clark of Fordson crashed into the tender of a Pere Marquette railroad engine at West Warren avenue. His 10-month-old son was killed instantly and his wife Lillian, 22 years old, was so badly injured she died an hour later. Physicians at Delray Industrial hospital where Mrs. Clark died, believe that Dr. Clark will live. There was no crossing signal or guard. [DFP-1926-1019] Ed. 1928. November. A 28 year old man was killed instantly when he was struck by the bucket of a steam shovel used in connection with the construction of a viaduct on Chase avenue near the Ternes Coal company yard in Fordson. The shovel was unloading gravel. [DFP-1928-1104]
