Industry: Dearborn, MI - Fordson Tractor Plant

Henry Ford built the Fordson Tractor Plant in 1913 on the east edge of the Village of Dearborn, along the Michigan Central Railroad's main line. This was the former Wagner Brick company property at Michigan Avenue and Elm Street. The ponds in the vicinity were left over from brick manufacturing. The tractor production was known as the Henry Ford & Son Company. The tractor plant was just west of the Henry Ford Museum.

The Michigan Central also had their DD&D branch here which left the main line southeast to the Delray area.

The Dearborn plant produced 10,000 tractors each month until 1921 when production was moved to Building B at the Rouge complex. The tractor plant was replaced by a new Ford Engineering building, designed by Albert Kahn and erected in 1925. [Wikimapia]
