Industry: Detroit and Lake Superior Copper Company, Springwells, MI
The Detroit and Lake Superior Copper Company works were located on Woodbridge (River) Road at Lovers Lane (Junction Avenue) along the Detroit River, next to Fort Wayne. This was the first copper smelter outside of the 13 original US colonies and built in 1950. It had a close relationship with the military. The mill operated until the 1980's.
The company had docks on the Detroit River.
