Allenton was settled about 1844 and originally called Smith's Corners. It was renamed Allenton in 1910. [MPN]
Allenton was located on the Pere Marquette's branch line from Port Huron to Almont. The station stop was about 30 miles west of downtown Port Huron, and about 2 miles east of the Lapeer County line.
