Station: Paynesville, MI

Painesville Depot Paynesville was settled about 1890 in McMillan Township in Ontonagon County. It became a station stop on the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic railroad at milepost 246.8 about three miles northwest of Agate Falls. [MPN]  This station should not be confused with Painesdale on the Copper Range railroad in Houghton County. This station was also known as Paynesdale.

1918. The DSS&A had an operator/agent here during the day shift. [TRT]

1931. The MPUC approves discontinuance of Paynesville as an agency station. A caretaker will remain. [MPUC-1931]
