Virgil was the crossing of the Grand Trunk Western and the Pere Marquette near Sheridan in Montcalm County.

Time Line

1888. The interlocking tower at Virgil was installed in 1888.

September 3, 1919: The Michigan Public Utilities Commission grants permission for the above railroads to remove the interlocking at Virgil, near Sheridan, replacing it with stop signs on both roads at this location. The Pere Marquette indicates that it operates one freight train in each direction daily except Sunday, and the GTW indicates that it operates one passenger and two freight trains in each direction daily, except Sunday.
