Location: Petersburg, MI - NYC-DT&I Crossing
This crossing was located on the north side of the village of Petersburg in Monroe County. The New York Central came through here in the early 1840's. About 1915, the DT&I built a branch line from their main line in Dundee southwest and south to Toledo. They crossed the NYC Monroe Branch here.
Image info: Top, a 1937 view of a map of the crossing, proposing to remove the interlocking here and replacing it with a single ground lever machine with a time release which would control two new gates at the crossing. The gates were normally lined across the NYC and operated by their train crews, which were normally scheduled for 1 round trip train per day. The gates had an electric "switch lamp" on top. There were stop signs on the NYC. The drawing suggests that an interlocking tower sat on the northwest quadrant of the crossing. The drawing notes that there were semaphore crossing signals on the DT&I as well as semaphore distant signals. 2nd image, a view of the track arrangements in the Dundee and Petersburg areas. This crossing is the green LS&MS in northern Petersburg.

1915. The crossing is established when the DT&I branch is built. Apparently an interlocking tower was established.
