Station: Falmouth, MI

Falmouth was settled about 1871 as a lumber settlement in south central Missaukee County. The town contained a sawmill, shingle mill and grist mill. [MPN]

Falmouth was located on a Grand Rapids & Indiana railroad branch line between Missaukee Junction (north of Cadillac) to near Houghton Lake in Roscommon County. Falmouth was actually on a four mile long forest spur which left this GR&I branch at Veneer Junction.

Notes

The Missaukee Branch and spurs were taken over by the Cadillac & Lake City railroad in 1963 which ran the branch until 1975. The line was abandoned in 1981. [MRRC]

1931. November, The MPUC authorizes the PRR to discontinue many passenger stations in Missaukee County but maintains an agency station at Lake City and Falmouth. [MPUC-1931]
