Location: Harris Yard, Negaunee, MI

Harris Yard was a Lake Superior & Ishpeming Yard located on the north side of the LS&I, parallel to the joint line northeast of Negaunee near the Mather Mine.

There was also a LS&I passing track here, which was used by passing trains going west to the single track to Ishpeming. The yard was used for staging cars for the underground mines in the area, including the Mass Mine. After the mines were closed, it was used for car storage. There was a spring switch used at each end of the yard. The switches had color-light indicators. [LSI2]

Notes

Harris Yard was named after R. H. Harris, the railroad's General Manager from 1899-1938.
