Station: Green Oak, MI

Green Oak was settled about 1830 with a grist and sawmill. It was originally called Warnerville and renamed Green Oak in 1854. It became a station on the Detroit, Grand Rapids & Western (later PM). It was also known as Green Oak Mills. [MPN]


Notes

Around 1945, there was a large sand and gravel plant here, producing both for commercial uses and railroad ballast. [PM45]


Time Line

1927. The PM had an agent-operator here on the day shift, paid 60¢ per hour. [PMTA]

1943. There were 8,308 cars of sand and gravel outbound (about 23 cars per day). Facility had a 300,000 lbs. 60' scale. [PM45]
