Interlocking: Riga Junction, MI
When the DT&I built the Malinta cutoff to straighten their main line in Michigan and Ohio, the new line crossed the New York Central "Old Road" about one mile southeast of Riga. An automatic interlocking was established at this location, which was called Riga Junction.
Notes
After the "Old Road" was abandoned by Conrail between Ottawa Lake and Riga, the crossing was removed.
Location: 41o48.267'N / 83o48.841'W.
Time Line
1929. It is noted that Riga has an automatic signal protection system at the crossing. [RSC-1929] They also note the installation of a US&S automatic interlocking with 12 signals.
