Station: Metamora, MI
Metamora was first settled about 1843 when an inn was constructed here. A store was added in 1850. In 1885, this town became a station on the Detroit and Bay City railroad (later MC). Metamora became a village in 1885. [MPN]
Metamora was about seven miles south of Lapeer in southwest Lapeer County.

Time Line
1874. Metamora, on the Detroit & Bay City railroad has a population of about 200, two stores, one drug store, one wagon ship, two blacksmith shops, one shoe shop and one wheat house. At this point, being half way [between Detroit and Bay City], the freight trains on the railroad meet and the passengers and train hands take dinner. [DFP-18p74-0402]
1917, The MC had an agent-operator here around-the-clock. [TRT]
