Railroad: Harbor Springs Railway Company, The
The Harbor Springs railway was built in 1902 as primarily a 7.2 mile logging railroad in Emmet County. It was also known as the Hemlock Central railroad. The line was built by Ephraim Shay, the inventor of the Shay logging locomotive design. The company also had branch lines in the area. [MRL]
