A large and enthusiastic mass meeting was held in Hudson tonight to consider aiding in the construction of the Jackson & Ohio railroad, alias the Jackson & State Line, which is a project for a road to connect at Jackson with the Grand Trunk (Michigan Air Line). Messrs. P.B. Loomis, Thomas A Wilson and D.S. Smith of Jackson were present and discussed the scheme at length. Committees were appointed to canvass for subscriptions. Waldron, Prattville and other towns were represented as well as Hudson. A unanimous sentiment in favor of aiding the new line was expressed. [DFP-1884-0214]
October 4, 1895. It is reported that nearly all the right of way for the extension of the Cincinnati, Jackson and Mackinaw to Jackson, Mich. has now been secured. The surveyors have located a line following a nearly direct route, and it is expected that as soon as the company completes the right of way purchases it will award the contracts for grading the new line, which will require the construction of about 20 miles of road [north from Addison Junction]. The road crosses a broken country, and the grading will be quite heavy. There is very little bridging and no long spans. [RG-10041895]
